Disaster Plan Steps

·       Ensure building is vacated and occupants are safe.

·       Secure the building and the general area.

·       Locate all “as-built” drawings and specifications.

·       Review insurance documents.

·       Contact insurance representative.

·       Secure a reputable general contractor who employs and supervises their workforce, subcontractors, building materials and constructs project in accordance with the architect/engineers plans and specifications.

·       Hire a professional architect/engineer to assess the damage.  Prepare plans and specifications in accordance with new building codes and assist owner in overall defining of all re-construction requirements.

·       Dry in/shore up buildings and structures in order to prevent further damage.

·       Dry out – remove where necessary wet carpet, wall board, cabinets, etc.  This is necessary to prevent the growth of mold.

·       Treat infected area with anti-microbial agent.

·       Coordinate all information and documentation between the contractor and the insurance adjuster, attorney, and management.
